County Public Library
The Boone County Public Library will start the fall
Homework Help sessions on August 26th. We are looking for dedicated
volunteers to assist elementary school students with their homework needs.
Volunteers will be working closely with the Youth Services librarians at
the Florence Branch during the time of service, which is scheduled for
Wednesdays at 4:30 to 6:30.
We need volunteers who will be positive role models for students and be
able to assist students with effective study skills. Since we offer
a place for Hispanic students and parents to receive bilingual instruction
and assistance we’re also interested in volunteers who have the
ability to communicate well with a diverse population and various learning
abilities.
We would schedule a 2 hour volunteer training before they start tutoring.

is looking for volunteers to fulfill community service or simply assist
our staff with responsibilities in servicing the elderly. We invite
you to create a program of your own to perform or come and assist at one
of our many activities within our Activities Program. The following
is a list of possible opportunities for students of Ryle
High School.
-- Assisting at Bingo games on Monday and Fridays at 2:35 till
4:00and on Saturday at 10:15
-- Filling birdfeeders in the Winter and planting out flowers in the
Spring
-- Band and Chorus students might perform by playing piano or other
instruments and singing during dinner.
-- Makeovers for our ladies and nail care (simply polishing nails). We
will provide the materials.
-- Help residents with Life Story Journals.
-- Assist
residents making booklets holding their stories.
-- Create an idea for an Arts and Crafts session.

Stables Equitherapy
This program was established to provide
recreational, educational, therapeutic and social opportunities for people
with disabilities. It helps children, youth and adults improve physical
capabilities and functional skills while providing them with opportunities
for physical activities and social interaction. Volunteers receive
training from a certified instructor to ensure safety of participants and
other volunteers.
Previous experience with horses is helpful, but not required.

environment for former service horses within the community. It
affords each animal the opportunity to maintain a productive lifestyle to
a dignified end. Volunteers are needed for horse care in the following
areas: grooming, feeding,
stall maintenance, walking/leading horses, and providing lots of affection
for animals.
Some assistance with fund raising events may also be needed.
Hours volunteers are needed: from

is a not-for-profit equestrian achievement program for riders with
physical and cognitive disabilities that range from Cerebral Palsy to
Autism.
Volunteers are needed to lead and side walk the horses and riders.
No horse or rider experience is necessary.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Provide one-on-one attention to an infant or young child in a daycare
setting.

Historic Dinsmore Homestead (circa 1842) needs volunteers to help with
programs and events on weekends from April 1 through December 15 each
year. This might include admissions work, gift shop
greeting, food concessions, parking lot assistance, arts & crafts

Opportunities
Available:
Childcare Aide -- duties involve occupying children at The Gardens
Center or at the Shelter during group meetings for parents (who will be
in the next room), or when parents go out on evening group excursion.
Need creativity, patience, and love working with children.
Also need to provide some activities for children to do (though
they will help with this).
“Store” Clerk — duties involve straightening and organizing
household goods that clients can “purchase” with vouchers.
Need the ability to arrange things in a logical and attractive
manner.
Pantry Stocking Aide – duties involve unpacking food donations,
stocking pantry, and packing food bags for clients.
Need to be physically fit.
Evening Activity Aide – duties involve helping to implement an
already-planned creative activity for the children and/or the women
staying at the Shelter, or working with Shelter staff to plan and
implement an activity. (Certain activities may need the materials to be
donated by Aide.) Need patience and creativity.
Offsite Cook/Baker – duties involve working with Shelter staff to plan
a meal or snack for residents, preparing the meal/snack from your own
home, and delivering it to the shelter at a mutually agreeable time and
date.
Administrative Aide – duties involve clerical help, including filing,
cutting and pasting, phone calling, errands, organizing storage spaces,
etc. Need a willingness to
do a variety of tasks and the ability to pay attention to details.
